NCEA Level 1, 2 and 3
FLOWCHART - DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES PATHWAYS
After students finish their 10DIT course, they might consider following a pathway that leads to NCEA levels of Digital Technology courses. Below is a representation of a flowchart from BDSC's subject pathways.
We can see that 10DIT will then lead to 1DIT and then two extra course, digital technologies with information systems (2DIT) and digital technologies with programming (2DIP), now information system mainly focuses on digital media and information systems. Where the programming might focus on programmings like python, notepad++ etc.
NCEA DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES WITH INFORMATION SYSTEMS (1,2 and 3 DIT)
NCEA LEVEL 1 DIT:
Students might consider continuing this pathway by choosing 1DIT (NCEA level 1 digital technologies with information systems) In this Year 11 course, students will face more school assessments based on desining, digital media and to develop using iterative processes. There is also NCEA assessments that is a co-requisite for either 2DIT or 2DIP which students need alteast 5 credits where they are assigned to create a computer program using Python.
NCEA DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES WITH PROGRAMMING(2,3 DIP)
These later NCEA courses are for academic students who are looking to develop complext computer programming skills. There are many NZ universities which include Auckland University who have given recognition for RPL towards students who enroll in Computer Science, It (Information Technology) and Software Engineering. The assessments that students will participate in programming using complex techniques and processes. And using critical inquiry and thinking to develop an outcome and solution.
